FUN THINGS TO DO WITH
PRESCHOOLERS
Play I Spy! Give the child a fairly detailed description of an object and see if she can guess what you see.
Role play! Take on the roles of your favorite storybook characters as you engage in everyday activities.
Make a mural. Engage a group of children in creating a wall-sized picture of a real or imaginary place, event, or storybook scene.
Take a magic carpet ride. Sit with a child or small group on a rug or couch and pretend that you are flying off on a magical adventure.
Introduce photography! Give the child a chance to take pictures of the things that interest him on a walk around the neighborhood.
Make rainbows with prisms or water spray; find them in soap films, pictures, and the sky. Teach the child the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Help the child make maps of real and imaginary places. The child may enjoy making treasure maps or maps of a neighborhood.
Make a personal museum! Help the child collect rocks, shells, interesting seed pods, toy dinosaurs, and arrange them in pleasing displays!
