Administering in Multiple Sessions

Flexible and convenient, the TILLS test is designed to work with your busy schedule. You can administer the subtests in one session, or you can break them into two or three sessions. This graphic shows you two ways to break the TILLS subtests into sessions and gives you a possible subtest order to follow.

Please note:

• Subtests highlighted in yellow must be given together
• The Story Retelling and Delayed Story Retelling subtests, highlighted in green, must be administered 20-30 minutes apart within the same session
• Subtests that aren’t dependent on others being given first (not highlighted) are listed at the end of the sessions. If there isn't enough time in that session, these can be given later.

Two Sessions (total estimated time 2 hours):

1. Listening Comprehension (8 min.)
2. Reading Comprehension (10 min.)
3. Reading Fluency (3 min.)
4. Written Expression (15 min.)
5. Social Communication (10 min.)
6. Following Directions (10 min.)
7. Nonword Reading (3 min.)

Three Sessions (total estimated time 2 hours):

1st Session

1. Story Retelling (7 min.)
2. Vocabulary Awareness (20 min.)
3. Digit Span Forward (3 min.)
4. Digit Span Backward (3 min.)
5. Delayed Story Retelling (2 min.)

2nd Session

1. Phonemic Awareness (4 min.)
2. Listening Comprehension (8 min.)
3. Reading Comprehension (10 min.)
4. Following Directions (10 min.)
5. Social Communication (10 min.)

3rd Session

1. Nonword Repetition (6 min.)
2. Nonword Spelling (6 min.)
3. Reading Fluency (3 min.)
4. Written Expression (15 min.)
5. Nonword Reading (3 min.)
